The West of England Anaesthesia Update has run annually in January since 2006, and continues to offer a diverse and stimulating range of CPD topics for everyone in the "Anaesthesia" family. Lectures take place first thing in the morning and late afternoon to early evening from Monday to Friday, delivering 15 CPD points.

Rather than bussing in big shots from out of town to talk about minutiae, WEAU delivers peer-to-peer education, where clinical experts share their knowledge and appreciate what delegates really want to hear.

The vast majority of talks fit neatly neatly into the College CPD matrix, and those that occasionally don`t are often the most stimulating and interesting. Topics cover anaesthesia, pain and ICU clinical practice, management, non – technical skills, physiology, pharmacology and many other things that clinicians find useful. Lectures are informal, with lots of interaction and time for questions. A coveted prize is awarded to the best lecture of the week.

Delegates are strongly advised to attend the whole week and to stay in the conference hotel. The lecture programme does occasionally have to change to accommodate the weather and snowfall.
